The Halbach Array can be made with many magnetic configurations. The style we offer is a cylinder / ring version with a dipole (2 pole) pattern in the central air gap. We can supply other styles upon request. Halbach Array designs are used in generators, motors, R&D, medical, magnetic levitation, etc.
The dipole Halbach Array consists of eight 45 degree magnet arcs within a brass retaining ring. The design has an OD of 110mm, an ID of 30mm and is 40mm long. The field within the 30mm diameter central air gap is homogenous (uniform) and is over 10000 Gauss in magnetic field strength (over 1 Tesla). Using more arcs of lesser arc angle would improve homogeneity further but would add to assembly cost).
The direction of magnetisation in each arc is designed such that the magnetic field traverses across the central air gap but is then 'guided' around and through the magnet material itself.
